Ayurika

Biography

SELF POTRET_ALFREDO ESQUILLO JR.jpg

Ayurika (b. 1996) was born in Grobogan, Central Java, Indonesia. She believes that the human body, akin to a Scripture, is created to be studied and serves as a means of communication between creatures and the divine Creator. Ayurika often depicts bare faces and naked bodies in her paintings.  For her, nudity is not just about erotic nuances; rather, it's an attitude—a courage to witness and embrace every circumstance. It's a bravery to see oneself in the present, here and now. All conditions, including personal characteristics, are viewed not as a disparity in body and soul, but accepted as integral to completeness.  Ayurika is obsessed with unraveling, examining the phenomena of her feelings and body for self-exploration. This personal and intimate observation leads her in creating art. She studied at Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) from 2014 to 2021. Her painting was recognized as One of The Best Paintings in a 2018 competition at the Basoeki Abdullah Museum in Vredeburg fort Yogyakarta, and becoming one of the young artists China nominations for 2017 in Beijing.
