Biography
Ivan Sagita was born on December 13, 1957, in Malang, East Java. During 1979-1985, Ivan received his education at the Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta. Then in 2003, Ivan attended a residency at the "Fellowship Artist in Resident-Vermont Studio Center" in America. Ivan's work began to be exhibited in 1987 in 2 joint exhibitions, namely "Biennale 7 Jakarta" and "Biennale 1 Yogyakarta". In 1990, Ivan's work was first exhibited abroad in the "Painting Exhibition", in several Asian countries. In the same year, Ivan's work was also exhibited in the "KIAS Indonesian Modern Art Exhibition", which was held in several places in America. Ivan's first solo exhibition was held in 1988 at Duta Gallery Jakarta. Ivan's other solo exhibitions are “Freezing the Time” (Australia, 2000), Exhibitions at Red Mills Gallery (America, 2003), “Life and Death” (Jakarta, 2005), “Final Silence” (2011, Netherlands), “They lay their heads on a soft place” (2014, Singapore), and “11 Art Installations” (Sweden, 2015).
