Oky Rey Montha (b. 1986, Yogyakarta) has been intimately acquainted with the world of imagination since childhood, particularly as it pertains to drawing on paper. Numerous awards have resulted from participation in numerous painting competitions. In addition, Montha is active in solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, and regional and international art fairs. Pop art combined with surrealism is the chosen style to convey his message. Daily life informs Montha’s work, including questions pertaining to personal relationships, family, and friendship. These serve as research materials to convey themes which Montha believes are universal. Aside from his immediate environment, Montha draws from materials and concepts in psychology, psychiatry and the study of ethics. He attempts to draw connections between his personal journey and a history of changes that have occurred in society.
