Srisasanti Gallery presents Sub-Values, a group exhibition by 36 artists from various generations and backgrounds held at the Galeri R.J. Katamsi, Yogyakarta. Sub-Values can be interpreted as each artist’s exploration in this exhibition, each of which presents a layered value, either in the form of achievements or contexts that are important to convey.

The presentation of this exhibition is divided into several sections according to their visual tendencies, in which each section shows Sub-Values, including Figurative, Non-representational/Abstract, Pop-Surrealistic, Landscape, and Surrealistic.

In Figurative section, the works of Entang Wiharso, Jumaldi Alfi, Ida Bagus Putu Purwa, and Agus TBR raise the social-community-political issues that they see and experience. They continue to cultivate and change figures to convey messages, whether personal, social, political, or a combination of various ideas and goals.

Dipo Andy, Gede Mahendra Yasa, Rangga Aputra, Awang Behartawan, Nurrachmat Widyasena, and Harishazka Fauzan present abstractions of specific ideas, which are presented in the form—imaginary form as a vehicle to

explore spaces, or as a form of prayer and mantra.

The Pop-Surrealistic section accommodates the artists’ imagination of the world, psychological conditions, ways, and perspectives of the world, all of which shape their presence in today's social life. The artists in this section are Oky Rey Montha, LiffiWongso, Bestrizal Besta, Fandi Angga Saputra, Laksamana Ryo, and Addy Debil.

Andre Yoga, M Alfariz, Franziska Fennert, Hojatul Islam, and M Ridwan voiced their anxiety about the landscape we live in together. This theme also continues to trigger artists to express their ideas about critical messages for

the future of planet Earth due to mismanagement, or greed as well as damage to development.

Three artists, namely Iwan Yusuf, Dicky Takndare, and Ivan Sagita, are grouped under Surrealistic tendencies. Ivan Sagita views body parts, details of events, and natural phenomena as a reality that invites layers of questions and other problems. Meanwhile, Iwan Yusuf and Dicky Takndare are based on activism, presenting questions and reflections in view of social, political, and cultural events.
