Kohesi Initiatives presents Translucent Lines, Windi Apriani's fi rst solo presentation with the gallery. In this solo presentation, Windi presents 4 works on canvas that were entirely created using black ballpoint.
Windi utilizes the cross-hatching drawing technique to show new possibilities in painting. The different shading densities in Windi's paintings create depth of space and intensify the presence of objects in her paintings.
The shading makes Windi's painting translucent, like see-through on the canvas. This is what makes Windi’s artistic practice unusual. At fi rst glance, her works appear almost like black-and-white photographs with the objects that are present in her paintings. These objects have their own "aura" in Windi's works.
Windi Apriani in her own words,
“My works certainly do not just stop at the issue of representation. I continue to explore and create codes that are more subtle and personal. So far, my works reflect on time, namely the relationship between time, reconstruct memories, moments, experiences, and realities that specifi cally or do not refer to what is around me (personal ties) and even what is actually outside of me."
