STEM Projects presents Dreamscape Anthology, a solo exhibition by Aurora Santika. In this exhibition, Aurora Santika has created an anthology about the problems of human life today, packaged with her version of fiction. The exhibition presents 13 new acrylic on canvas works by the artist.
Aurora Santika grew up with fiction that she consumed from various media. She listens and observes intensive and detailed simple things surrounding her everyday life. Aurora's observations are intertwined with her fictional consumption experience, creating her version of a 'work of fiction'. This has contributed to a visual comprehension that extends beyond mere replication—but is integrated into her artistic process. They encapsulate the complexities of human relationships, bringing to the surface issues from common adversaries uniting people to the cyclical nature of life's problems.
Her paintings in this exhibition evoke a fairy tale—a dreamscape populated by characters akin to princesses, princes, witches, and magical creatures. The mature opaque coloring technique and precise outlines contribute to the firmness of the fictional reality she crafts. Offering a cozy and coherent palette, her paintings invite viewers to explore the bitterness of reality in a secure space. This approach represents a fresh and creative method for young artists to engage with complex issues through visually rich expressions.
