STEM Projects presents Playground on Playground, a solo exhibition by Onar Bermano. The exhibition touches on themes of world injustice in a bright and colorful artistic style, featuring more than 40 new works, including acrylic paintings on canvas and three-dimensional figures of characters from his works.
Onar Bermano uses a naïve-decorative painting style that reminds us of childhood memories. With colorful cartoon characters, he tells complex stories about world injustice. In the work "1 Crown Will Not Be Enough" (2024), Onar highlights power and manipulation by using the symbol of a crown and animal figures on the canvas. "A Dance Behind a Mask" (2024) depicts how world leaders often hide their true intentions behind masks, with the symbol of a human heart representing conscience. Onar uses the impasto technique with a palette knife to create an acrylic paint texture on the surface of the canvas.
This exhibition is not only about conveying a message but also inviting viewers to reflect on how we see and understand the world. Onar uses art as a method to transform subjects into new possibilities, showing that each person can see the world differently.
