Srisasanti Syndicate is pleased to present a major exhibition commemorating the 30-year journey of the gallery’s founder, E. St Eddy Prakoso, in the Indonesian contemporary art scene. This exhibition showcases works from 31 artists spanning different generations and backgrounds: from the early 1980s (Anusapati and I Made Djirna), the 1990s (Ugo Untoro, Entang Wiharso, Handiwirman Saputra, Angki Purbandono, Jompet Kuswidananto, Wimo Ambala Bayang, J. Ariadhitya Pramuhendra, and Eko Nugroho), to the younger generation of the 2000s (Abenk Alter, Darbotz, Dede Cipon, Justian Jafin W, Liffi Wongso, Ayurika, and Zico Albaiquni). Each artist presents their distinctive style and diverse issues.
Srisasanti Syndicate was established 30 years ago by St. Eddy Prakoso under the name Galeri Koong in Jakarta in 1994. The gallery survived the political and social crisis between 1994 – 1999 that marked the end of the Indonesian New
Order regime. In 2000, St. Eddy Prakoso relocated to Yogyakarta and renamed the gallery Srisasanti Gallery—after his mother, Mariana Srisasanti.
Initially, Srisasanti Syndicate included the Srisasanti Gallery art gallery and artist management. Today, Srisasanti Syndicate has expanded to three galleries: Srisasanti Gallery, kohesi Initiatives, and STEM Projects. Over the past five years, Srisasanti Syndicate has organized over 50 exhibition programs, published dozens of books and catalogs and represents 19 artists.
This exhibition offers the public a chance to understand the extensive 30-year journey of Srisasanti Syndicate, which has contributed to the Indonesian art scene. Srisasanti Syndicate continues to present various exhibition programs and establish relationships between the gallery, artists, stakeholders, and the public.
