Ruth Marbun (b. 1985, Medan) is interested in the interconnectedness between humans and their surroundings, particularly the capacity to adapt and endure within the profundity of daily existence. Her work explores how we shape these landscapes and how they shape us in return. Through painting, drawing, animation, and installation, she reflects on the paradoxes within these relationships. Her works take both figurative and abstract forms, using materials and gestures that carry vulnerability and resilience, portrayed through a primordial and non-linear language.
