In the inaugural edition of Art Jakarta Papers 2026, kohesi Initiatives presents the works from Anastasia Astika, Agugn, Dede Cipon, Kareem Soenharjo, Ruth Marbun, Riono Tanggul, Young Kim, and Yosefa Aulia. The presentation brings together a range of distinct bodies of work that, while differing in form, material, and conceptual approach, converge around shared concerns of memory, duality, perception, and the construction of meaning.
Questions of desire, alienation, and the limits of self-understanding surface in the artworks, where the artists confront an unsettling lack of mastery over their own creation. The presentation inhabits states of tension, ambiguity, and multiplicity, proposing that meaning—whether personal, relational, or historical—is never singular or complete, but always in flux, shaped by the interplay of memory, perception, and the unseen forces that structure our experience.
