Address:
Tirtodipuran Link Building A
Jl. Tirtodipuran No 50

The sun is inevitable to any living being. It is the first thing we see when we wake each day, and its disappearance only signals its return in the next. But in its omnipresence, does its existence hold the same meaning across hemispheres? Bringing together artists from Indonesia and abroad, Eye of the Day uses the idea of the sun as a metaphor for shared experiences perceived across different places and contexts, influencing how we see the world.

The sun takes on different meanings depending on the place. Its meaning shifts with latitudes. The universality of the sun’s presence constructs our understanding of the world. Eye of the Day sees the artists not as those who impose meaning but as guides who introduce us to how people around the globe interpret the world (or their world). Despite many individual differences, what these artists have in common is not a specific theme or visual tendencies. Instead, their practices each feature a variety of approaches and styles that carry differing stories, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.

Where we live inevitably shapes our perspectives on life in ways that differ from that of others. Yet, can we still find a sense of interconnectedness with those in distant places?
